GigLink collects personal information from businesses and finance experts to run our platform. We use it to match you with the right people, process payments, and improve the service. We do not sell your data. You can access, correct, or request deletion of your information at any time.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, store, and protect your personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

By using the GigLink platform at giglink.com.au or any associated portals or services ("Platform"), you consent to the collection and use of your personal information as described in this Policy. If you do not agree with this Policy, please do not use our Platform.

01 About This Policy

This Policy applies to all personal information collected by GigLink in connection with the operation of our marketplace platform, which connects Australian businesses ("Businesses") with verified finance professionals ("Experts").

This Policy covers personal information collected from:

  • Businesses that register on and use GigLink to find and hire finance experts;
  • Finance experts who apply for and maintain profiles on the platform;
  • Visitors to our website who do not create an account; and
  • Any other individuals who interact with GigLink, including through enquiries or communications.

This Policy should be read alongside our Terms of Service.

02 What We Collect

The personal information we collect depends on who you are and how you use the Platform.

From Businesses

  • Name, email address, phone number, and job title of the account holder and any team members
  • Company name, ABN, and registered address
  • Brief details including the type of finance expert needed, budget, scope, and timeline
  • Billing and payment information (processed securely via our payment provider)
  • Communications with GigLink and with Experts through the platform
  • Platform usage data including login activity, brief history, and engagement records

From Finance Experts

  • Full name, email address, phone number, and location
  • Professional credentials, qualifications, and memberships (e.g. CPA Australia, CA ANZ)
  • Work history, specialisations, and areas of expertise
  • ABN and business entity details
  • Bank account details for payment purposes
  • Pitch video content and profile photo
  • Hourly rate and availability preferences
  • Identity verification documents provided as part of the vetting process
  • Client ratings, engagement history, and platform activity
  • Communications with GigLink and with Businesses through the platform

From Website Visitors

  • IP address, browser type, and device information
  • Pages visited, time spent on pages, and referring URLs
  • Any information submitted through contact or enquiry forms
  • Cookie and analytics data (see Section 9)
Sensitive Information

GigLink does not intentionally collect sensitive information (such as health, racial or ethnic origin, or religious belief) unless you provide it voluntarily and it is reasonably necessary for our functions. Where such information is provided, it will be handled with the additional care required by the APPs.

03 How We Collect It

We collect personal information in the following ways:

  • Directly from you — when you create an account, complete your profile, post a brief, submit an application, or contact us
  • Through the platform — as you use GigLink, we collect usage data and records of your activity including briefs, engagements, and communications
  • From third parties — including professional body databases (to verify credentials), payment processors, and identity verification services
  • Automatically — through cookies, analytics tools, and similar technologies when you visit our website (see Section 9)
  • From referrals — where another user refers you to GigLink, we may receive your name and contact details

Where practicable, we collect personal information directly from you. If we collect information about you from a third party, we will take reasonable steps to notify you of this unless it would be unreasonable or impracticable to do so.

04 How We Use It

We use personal information for the following purposes:

Vetting and verification Verifying Expert credentials, qualifications, and professional memberships before approval
Payments and billing Processing invoices, collecting payments from Businesses, and remitting payments to Experts
Communications Sending account notifications, platform updates, shortlist deliveries, and responding to support requests
Safety and trust Investigating disputes, monitoring for fraud, and maintaining platform quality standards
Legal compliance Meeting our obligations under Australian law including KYC requirements, tax reporting, and record-keeping
Platform improvement Analysing how the platform is used to improve features, matching quality, and user experience
Marketing Sending relevant updates, new features, or promotional content (where you have not opted out)

We will not use your personal information for purposes other than those described above without your consent, unless required or permitted by law.

Marketing Communications

With your consent, we may send you marketing emails about GigLink products, features, and news. You can opt out at any time by clicking "Unsubscribe" in any email or by contacting us at support@giglink.com.au. Opting out of marketing does not affect transactional or account-related communications.

05 Who We Share It With

GigLink does not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may share personal information in the following circumstances:

Between Platform Users

When an Expert is shortlisted for a Brief, their profile information — including name, credentials, specialisations, rates, and pitch video — is shared with the relevant Business. Businesses' Brief details are shared with matched Experts. Both parties understand and consent to this sharing as part of using the platform.

Third Party Service Providers

We share personal information with trusted service providers who assist us in operating the platform, including:

  • Payment processors — to handle invoicing and payment transactions securely
  • Identity and credential verification services — to verify Expert qualifications
  • Cloud storage and hosting providers — to store platform data securely
  • Email and communications platforms — to deliver account and platform notifications
  • Analytics providers — to understand how the platform is used
  • Legal and accounting advisors — where required for compliance or dispute resolution

All third party service providers are required to handle personal information in accordance with our instructions and applicable privacy law.

Legal and Regulatory Requirements

We may disclose personal information where required by law, court order, or regulatory authority, or where we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the safety of any person, prevent fraud, or enforce our Terms of Service.

Business Transfers

If GigLink is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, personal information may be transferred to the acquiring entity. We will notify affected users via email or a platform notice before any such transfer occurs.

06 Overseas Transfers

Some of our third party service providers operate outside Australia. Where personal information is disclosed to overseas recipients, we take reasonable steps to ensure those recipients handle the information in a manner consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles.

Countries to which we may transfer data include the United States (cloud infrastructure providers), and other countries where our service providers operate. By using the platform, you consent to these transfers.

Where required by APP 8.1, we will take contractual or other measures to ensure overseas recipients protect your information appropriately before transfer.

07 Data Security

GigLink takes the security of your personal information seriously. We implement a range of technical, administrative, and physical safeguards to protect your data, including:

  • Encrypted storage of personal and financial data
  • Secure HTTPS connections across the platform
  • Restricted staff access to personal information on a need-to-know basis
  • Regular security assessments and monitoring
  • Secure payment processing through certified payment providers

Despite these measures, no data transmission or storage system is completely secure. If you believe your account has been compromised, please contact us immediately at support@giglink.com.au.

Data Breach Response

In the event of a data breach that is likely to result in serious harm, GigLink will notify affected individuals and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) in accordance with the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

08 Retention

We retain personal information for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected, including to meet legal, accounting, and reporting obligations.

As a general guide:

  • Account information — retained for the duration of your account and for 7 years after closure (for legal and tax compliance purposes)
  • Engagement and billing records — retained for 7 years in accordance with Australian tax and financial record-keeping obligations
  • Vetting and credential documents — retained for the duration of an Expert's registration and for 2 years after account closure
  • Communications — retained for 3 years unless required longer for dispute resolution
  • Website analytics data — retained in aggregated or anonymised form indefinitely

When personal information is no longer required, we will take reasonable steps to securely destroy or permanently de-identify it.

09 Cookies & Tracking

GigLink uses cookies and similar tracking technologies to improve platform functionality and understand how users interact with our site.

Types of Cookies We Use

Analytics Help us understand how visitors use the platform — pages visited, time on site, and common user journeys. Data is aggregated and anonymised.

10 Your Rights

Under the Australian Privacy Principles, you have the following rights in relation to your personal information:

In some circumstances we may be unable to fulfil a request — for example, where deletion would prevent us from meeting a legal obligation — and we will explain our reasons clearly if this is the case.

11 Children

The GigLink platform is not directed at or intended for use by children under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately at support@giglink.com.au and we will take steps to delete it.

12 Complaints

If you have a concern about how GigLink has handled your personal information, we want to hear from you. Please contact our Privacy Officer in the first instance:

13 Changes to This Policy

GigLink may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, legal requirements, or platform features. We will publish any updated Policy on this page with a revised effective date.

Where changes are material, we will notify registered users via email or a prominent notice on the platform at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the platform after that date constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.

We encourage you to review this Policy periodically.
